Welcome Charlie Sundborn

Charlie Sundborn, sax teacher at JWA

We are very, very happy to welcome our newest sax teacher Charlie Sundborn to JWA. Himself a graduate of JWA and currently completing his final semester of jazz degree at the Sydney Conservatorium, Charlie is a fine, skilful, and committed teacher. He can teach jazz and classical saxophone to all ages and levels and is available on Tuesday afternoon -evening. Here’s what Charlie says:

“I am a Jazz and Improvising Saxophonist, currently completing my final year at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where I have learnt from some of Sydney’s most inspiring musicians such as Phil Slater, Mike Rivett, Matt McMahon and James Greening.
Throughout high school, I participated in JWA’s Sydney Youth Jazz Orchestra and Saturday Combo, both lead by Saul Richardson, and studies saxophone with Evan Harris and Jeremy Rose. It is a great honour to now be a teacher at JWA, and i hope to inspire young musicians in the same way i was inspired by these dedicated and talented people.

As a performer, I am a keen participant in Sydney’s Jazz and Improvising scene, collaborating with the likes of Barney McCall, Cameron Undy, Clayton Thomas, Jim Denley, Peter Farrar, Laura Altman and more.
I teach all ages and levels.
