Our violin teacher, Brianne Curran is performing in Europe during term 3 2014 so is currently not available for lessons. New students are welcome to enroll for term 4 (from October).

Violin lessons cost $43.20/half hour and $84.20/hour for weekly lessons, paid in advance. Lessons are on  Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Our teacher is Brianne Curran.  Brianne is a Suzuki expert but can prepare students for exams, if that is the course they choose to take.

Brianne Curran, B.Mus.

Brianne began her musical studies at the age of three on violin. Her teacher from the beginnings was Mr Yasuki Nakamura OAM, an original student of Dr Schin’ichi Suzuki (1898-1998), the founder of the Suzuki Teaching method. She performed regularly in solo and orchestral concerts and won many awards in eisteddfods. In the year 2000 she was Concert Master for KAYO (Knox, Abbotsleigh Youth Orchestra) a 90 piece Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mr Brian Buggy OAM (current conductor of the Sydney Youth Orchestra Philharmonic) on their America, UK and Europe tour.

After school, Brianne performed at numerous world music and folk festivals nationally, also studying Scottish Fiddle with ARIA award winning Chris Duncan. She then moved to Canberra after being accepted into the Jazz-performance Bachelor Degree program at the Australian National University in Canberra where she completed the first year of her degree with teachers Eric Ajaye and Tor Fromhyr. In 2009 Brianne finished her B. Mus (Contemporary Performance) through the Australian Institute of Music as a scholarship holder studying with Greg Coffin, and Adrian Keating.

Her teaching experience includes tutoring private and group lessons to children through to adults throughout rural NSW, and in urban Sydney. Brianne is studying Suzuki pedagogy, and continues to grow as a teacher, furthering her studies in this area. Her particular point of interest is in bridging the gap between Classical technique and the world of improvised music and Jazz.

In 2011 her original World/Jazz band ‘Takadimi’ had its debut album New Common Sense released through the renowned International production and distribution company MGM, (founded in 1924) and gained widespread recognition across ABC and community radio. Brianne currently performs locally, and tours nationally with the band, as well as performing as a session musician for events ranging from weddings, to FBi social events with upcoming musicians such as ‘Packwood’, to the MGM/Street Press Australia official showcase at the inaugural ARIA Week.
