About the scholarship and howto apply:
Applications for this scholarship have now closed for JWA Summer Jazz Camp 2017
The Sarah Waugh Opportunity Scholarship is donated by the Waugh family to honour the memory of Sarah Waugh who tragically died in a horse riding accident while training to become a jillaroo. She was also a keen musician who loved coming to Jazz Camp.
The Sarah Waugh Opportunity Scholarship pays for one young musician to attend JWA Jazz Camp with the registration fee waived, or the scholarship may be shared between two. The recipient/s will still need to get her/himself to the camp venue in Sydney if travelling from elsewhere. Jazz music
must be an important part of the recipient’s life and they must have a demonstrated commitment to involvement and pursuit of excellence in jazz. They must also demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is intended to allow a keen musician to attend the camp who otherwise could not afford
to. They need not be the most accomplished player, but should be obviously enthusiastic about playing and learning more about jazz and need to be the kind of person who will be a positive member of the jazz camp family. Any musician, playing any instrument, aged 10-21 years can apply.
The scholarship is not administered by JWA nor does JWA choose the recipient. All applications are forwarded to the donors who have so generously funded the scholarship. They will announce their decision by the end of November.
At the discretion of the donors, the scholarship may be shared between two applicants.
How to apply: closed for this year, no more applications accepted.
To apply please write 200 – 500 words (absolute maximum) stating the student’s need for the financial assistance, their commitment, passion and dedication to jazz.
Applications should be emailed to: email@example.com and must include “Sarah Waugh Opportunity Scholarship application” in the subject line.
