Happy New School Year everyone!
To celebrate the new year, after an amazing summer with an unforgettable and safe Jazz Camp, and thanks to unprecedented demand, we’re starting up a bunch of new jazz combos this term.
After a term or two of learning, our junior groups are no longer beginners so we are forming TWO new groups for younger kids, about ages 8-11 (on Friday and Saturday). The new jazz combos this term include:
- groups for younger kids, about ages 8-11 (on Friday and Saturday).
- a new band for teens with intermediate experience (on Friday)
- adult beginners (on Monday)
- young adults with intermediate or more experience (also on Mondays)
As always, JWA jazz combo rehearsals include rehearsing and playing music supported by structured coaching in jazz improvisation, small-ensemble performance technique, and jazz styles. These groups are a brilliant system for complementing and enhancing what students learn in private lessons, whether at JWA or elsewhere. The benefits are more than music though – think teamwork, self-confidence, and more. Check the jazz combos page for a bigger list of things combo can do for your child or for you. You can also see the scope of this unique program.
Whether 2021 lets us back to safe public performances or not, the JWA combos and our wonderful community of students and families will continue to thrive. Everyone is welcome to get involved. At JWA, you can learn jazz today.
Places are limited, and the earlier you start the more you can learn, so why not Email or call to find out more or to enrol?
