November – December have once again been a busy time for the bands at Jazz Workshop Australia. Our schedule has included Christmas gigs, jazz combos concerts, and even a spot supporting an Aussie pop star of the 90s!
Our students performed in the JWA Sydney Youth Jazz Orchestra at Lane Cove’s stunning new outdoor venue The Canopy, supporting headliner Kate Ceberano along with fellow support act RAYNE. It was a fine performance in a terrific venue with outstanding tech and production crew.
There have been Christmas gigs for our students too, including a combo at Greenwich Carols by Candlelight and big band at The Coal Loader Christmas Artisans’ market. The big band is also scheduled to play at Mosman Christmas Market 9 December.
Most importantly, perhaps, all our jazz combos are presenting small concerts to friends and family over the last three weeks of term. Here’s a summary:
- 29 November: Gavin Ahearn’s adult groups
- 10 December: Saul Richardson’s ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Friday’ groups, and Jack Stoneham’s band.
- 11 December: Saul Richardson’s & Eric Dunan’s Saturday groups: 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:45, & 4:15.
- 13 December: Deven Rahman’s young adults group
- 16December: Saul Richardson’s advanced adults group
