We are now calling for expressions of interest in the JWA tour to USA and Barbados.

It is a 16 night big band performance and study tour for strong to exceptional young jazz players ages 14 to 20. The main destinations are New York, Miami and Orlando in the USA, and the Caribbean island of Barbados. The tour departs Sydney on January 1, 2014.
The members of the band learn their parts at home before we come together for rehearsals at JWA in Sydney three or four times in the months before the tour. Musicians from outside Sydney are welcome and have successfully participated in previous tours.
Activities include:
Performances
Performance venues on tour include clubs, resorts, restaurants, concert halls and public venues. These are real gigs for a real band with demanding audiences.
Workshops and Master Classes
Being in cities like New York affords unrivalled access to the greatest living jazz performers and teachers. The tour band does workshops with them. Past clinicians have included Rufus Reid, John Fedchock, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Wallace, Jeff Jarvis, Jimmy Cobb, Bobby Shew, John Clayton, Wycliffe Gordon and Dave Douglas. Many past tourists have found these workshops to be their main highlight among many on tour.
Sightseeing & culture
We visit some of the most famous, fascinating and wonderful places in the world and everyone gets time to see the sights and experience local culture. We also take time to visit one or more of the world famous jazz clubs in New York.
Team spirit
Preparing for an international tour and then spending a couple of weeks “on the road” with a group of like-minded colleagues develops lasting friendships, amazing team spirit and lifelong memories.
